I love the planet, I want to save the trees, whales, seals, and all kinds of endangered species. I do have sympathy for anything treated poorly and abused. However, deep down… I kinda feel the way George Carlin does about it all… Maybe to a T. When you think about it he’s right. Granted, I don’t like to see anything innocent suffer, but uh… you can’t deny science.
On a sadder note, George Carlin is one of my favorite comedians, and quite possibly one of my favorite celebrity personalities. It’s so funny that as a voice of reason we are not only able to agree with him, but laugh at ourselves because we know he is right. I hope the world breeds another comedian like this guy because we need more of his kind roaming again. Then again, he was one of kind.
I am tired of being PC. I wanna speak my mind. So here I go…
I want to spread the non-rumor that Palin is the real terrorist, an animal killing, global warming encouraging ‘ not accepting just gay ‘tolerating’, foreign experience lacking, non-female reproductive rights supporting , politically inept debating (due to lack of any actual real experience and education on politics), and therefore unqualified to run our country in ANY way. Thus, she becomes a threat to our well being, and therefore defines my view of a TERRORIST.
Sure, this is an alarmist reaction, but so is saying that Barack Obama hangs out with terrorists. First off the guy who Obama is friends with is not a current ‘terrorist’. Secondly, he lead the Weather Underground um… 40 years ago! Thirdly, the WU was not a terribly reputable organization, but it was the off shoot of a movement that was rampant at the time. These people were young and idealistic about how their government should be run, and although I do not agree with violent attacks on anyone let alone my own government, (and perpetuating conspiracy theories) they were not attacking civilians. I am sure that after 40 years this man has moved his passion elsewhere and has learned from his youthful mistakes. It seems as though he was anti-government before, but now with age and wisdom he is supporting politics and sees Obama as someone who can help his country thrive. Remember what he was initially fighting for, and that was for freedom, and it was backed by his passion for patriotism.
This is something the McCain/Palin camp cherish. Funny, how if it is expressed in any way which isn’t paying taxes, fighting for your country, to tote arms or ‘pick your own health insurance’, then you must be un-patriotic and un-American. Never mind if you want a government that is open minded, tolerant, and takes care of it’s people by giving them something new and unconventional like health care. I think you can still have your gun toting, conservative religious freedoms if we had a little help with healthcare. I do not understand how one thing is associated with the other? People don’t realize that Republicans want you to buy your own health care becuase it’s cheaper for the country. NOT because they are afraid of socialism! Really, why can’t you get health care from your government, or pay for it on a sliding scale? I think that health care has NOTHING to do with my freedom of speech, or how I choose to spend my money. In fact if you provide me with health care, then I am pretty sure I will have MORE MONEY to invest in the economy.
ANYWAY…Sarah Palin’s comment is so totally blown out of proportion. She and her whole campaign love to feed into the hype of fear, and if you listen to that nonsense than you have got to wake up. You are no better than a lamb in a flock of sheep, and you are what’s holding the country back.
I don’t know about you but she is sparking TERROR and FEAR in me. Her existence in this world threatens the balance that this country is trying to strike. Evangelicals, or any people with family values WILL NOT SUFFER under an Obama/Biden administration. Most families taxes will NOT be higher but LOWER. The people getting taxed higher will be among the 5% of people in this country who are wealthy. They either own their own business or are independently wealthy. Corporations will be taxed higher, but NOT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN. Not the common people who may live in any kind of home or neighborhood whether it be low income or higher income. Obama’s economic plan we leave most of the people living in this country OUT of the any kind of tax hike! This is a fact. No one is going to take your livelihood from you, or ruin you, or curtail your beliefs if you vote for Obama. You can STILL KEEP YOUR MONEY, and your RELIGION, (and your belief that there is no such thing as evolution). YOU WILL NOT BE AFFECTED. I get the feeling that many people associate the Democrats with some kind of attack on their wallet and their core beliefs. Like if we have a Democratic President that this country will turn into some hippy orgy of love, disease, and atheism. I think some people really need to get a grip. Watch Jesus Camp, and you will see that there are some out there who think everything that isn’t within their frame of reference is an attack on them and their belief system. Like the American government doesn’t respect them for their decision to be Evangelical?
However, if you are liberal, or any kind of thinker who doesn’t fall in line with the moral and religious beliefs of the McCain/Palin institution how could you feel comfortable? How could you relax knowing that the VP of the USA believes the Roe vs. Wade should be overturned, and that is the ONLY Supreme Court judgment that she knows about because it’s probably the only issue she would like to see tackled? This is narrow mindedness. I want an open minded, educated leader in both my President and VP.
What is good for one is not what is good for all.
WE NEED A LEADER WHO WILL PROTECT THE VALUES OF ALL TYPES OF PEOPLE.
Not just the right-wing conservatives.
WHY would a liberal person who wants their own freedoms TAKE THEM AWAY OR CHANGE THEM for any one else? These people who think they need to protect their family values are living in a warped society. In this country you can believe in BOTH EVOLUTION AND GOD IF YOU WANT TO. Or you can CHOOSE NOT TO BELIEVE IN ANY OF IT. That is the beauty of this country.
Also understand this people- If we were ‘allowed’ to come to this country, DRIVE OUT THE NATIVES AND THEIR INDIGENOUS RELIGIONS, and sit here and say “I don’t believe in the power of England, or it’s religion, or it’s politics”, than it is within that same frame of reference that ALL AMERICANS TODAY to have a right to say “I will believe in any religion that I want to, and I will choose what to do with my body and NO ONE, not even my government can tell me what to do.” Don’t Republican and folksy people like Palin go by that very principle? So isn’t it fair to let me have my abortion choices? (And if I was apart of this community) to have a choice over marrying someone if I were gay? What about the choice that I am currently making right now to leave my Catholic background behind and go towards Buddhism? Isn’t that my choice? Why would any of my personal decisions be a problem to you?
This freedom of choice is what the Republican Party stands on. It calls for us to bring America ‘back’ to where were came from which makes no sense!! It is bogus and it’s bullshit. Think about this in your economically conservative beans- for- brains: if you think that we should tax the middle class more, and let the Free Market and the riches from the upper class trickle down to help the rest of us, but that no one should be have their hard earned money taken away by the government then YOU ARE CRAZY HYPOCRITE! You are insane. Let me point out how you are WRONG.
1. Trickle down economics have not worked. We have been saying this should work since 1980, and it hasn’t worked once.
2. You can’t be a sane middle-class American and say “Yes, I fully volunteer to be taxed more by the Republican Party, and then HOPE that the Rich people who are making more than me spread their joyous wealth down into the economy so I can reap the benefits of their riches.” Do you honestly believe that? If you sat down at a craps table in Las Vegas you would have more luck. You are agreeing to give more money to the government that you hate , ( the government that supposedly threatens to regulate your freedoms, and to most people money is freedom), and you in turn support those that are making you poorer because they the rich do not trickle down. They hold onto their wealth with a tight fist, and if they are in spending in a time of Recession then that is BAD FOR US. REPEAT IF RICH PEOPLE SPEND THEIR $ IN A TIME OF RECESSION THEN THAT IS BAD FOR ALL OF US. SEE BELOW.
3. Free market sort things out? HA! DO YOU SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING ON WALL ST. RIGHT NOW? BAILOUT IS NOT WORKING, and it’s because not even the government can help out these paddywacks and all the bullshit they caused. We need some regulation in our market because apparently Wall Street cannot be trusted with OUR MONEY. Yes, Wall St. runs off of EVERYONE’S money, not just private business and stock holders. We are all somehow involved. If you own a house, if you have money in a bank, then you are involved!***
Free Market can be GREEDY AND CORRUPT, and will do things like buy and sell credit defaults with out the fine print spelled out, which thus, in short, turned this economy into garbage. Now we are in a fucking crisis. Funny how PALIN says “Let’s end the greed in corruption on Wall St.” YEAH HOW? Apparently, she is not going to do it by FIXING the actual problem. She still wants a free market, and she and McCain still want to tax the people who are worse off (middle class) and then let the Free Market and the rich just keep doing what their doing.
If you’re rich you will continue to spend your money no matter what the crisis and according to the basic principles of economics, this will INCREASE the inflation rate, which doesn’t help middle America!!!!*** Especially, if we are being more heavily taxed. The McCain/ Palin camp wants to LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE AND TAKE AWAY MORE FROM THE AVERAGE PERSON. Sounds like a slippery slope into a Depression and into a vast pool of fucking bullshit.
What makes me even more sick is that Sarah Palin thinks that killing off a beautiful creature like the Alaskan Wolf is a great way to let other animal populations thrive. Why would we want deers, moose, and caribou to thrive- OH! BECAUSE SHE WANT TO EAT THEM? Is it all about us 100% of the time Sarah?! NO ITS NOT. Has she ever sat through a science class? Has she ever even observed the beautiful balance of life and nature? Has she ever witnessed the cycle of life, like the ocean’s tides clearing away the shore, or a bee pollinating a flower, birds nesting in a tree, or even an ant colony living off the remains of a cadaver? We need all kinds of animals and life to survive in this planet. We need a balance in our ecosystem so that we can ALL EXIST. Humans are nothing without the vast splay of life that support us.
Don’t even get me started on the Polar Bears. I will end up breaking my keyboard.
I am fuming, and fuck yeah I am an ‘angry’ lefty. This level of douchebaggery is out of control and rampant. Our country is not doing so hot, and no one wants to be in this war. I am sick and tired of all this bullshit, and everyone is so freakin’ complacent. Get off your asses, open you eyes. If Obama doesn’t win this election I am rebelling. I am not gonna be a cop out that says “I am moving to Canada”. HA! Like they are gonna let you in! Listen, we care this much because we love our country, and we want to see it be a better place. We’re a new generation and we can improve upon our quality of life here. We can learn from the mistakes from our parent’s generation, and we can show the world that we can think for ourselves. We need to take command of the advantages written into our Constitution, and we need put the democracy and freedom back into our government. I won’t stand to see my country fall to such low depths of corruption and misery any longer….
Besides the many things that the author points out about Palin, this quote sums up not only I am personally thinking, but what many are:
“Palin may be a perfectly wonderful person, a loving mother and a great American success story—but she is a beauty queen/sports reporter who stumbled into small-town politics, and who is now on the verge of stumbling into, or upon, world history.”
Which is scary, and unnerving, and I suggest checking in with your family doctor or psychologist if this doesn’t send off any alarm sounds in your cranium. We live in a country that leads the world. Even if you live in a small town, you have to understand that your government leads the free world, and if we get into any altercations outside of your little bubble, it will be YOU that is affected by it. How about the Iraq War, and all of the Americans who perished on foreign soil? I wonder if it occurs to her supporters that this is a global issue, one that could have been avoided, and that Iraq did not harbor the terrorists who bombed the Pentagon or The World Trade Center. I don’t know how anyone is sitting comfortable with knowing this. I digress…
Another thought I had today-
While it is of utmost importance that we protect the glaciers and ice caps, has anyone thought about the other kinds of geographical locations known for their ice and snow? I am talking about ski resorts. I was watching PBS, and I think it was an episode of Globe Trekker, where the male host of the show goes to The Alps and partakes in one of the infamous ski tours which is clearly the region’s highlight and main attraction. It seemed like an epic adventure, a once in a lifetime experience, or something that you would really save your $ for. It also seems like something that rich people do.
I may sound that I am speaking of stereotypes here, but what I present to you is based on much truth. Skiing is an expensive hobby, and most people who ski either save the cash to do it, or are wealthy enough that it becomes a seriously fun pastime for them? I don’t hear about too many impoverished or working class families going on ski resort vacations. Which leads me to point out that I would think many wealthy Palin supporting families might value you that kind of getaway, and well… believing that global warming doesn’t exist is ironic and foolish. Palin doesn’t believe global warming exists, (Drill Baby drill!- you get me?) and I am positive that a large chunk of her supporters agree.
On this episode of Globe Trekker, our host stops along his ski tour somewhere in the high, snowy peaks of the The Alps, and his native tour guide points out how the snow is disappearing. (which then was followed up by showing Before and After pictures of the region from the 1990s and 2000’s. The pictures were frightening, and showed the recessed peaks and snowy landscape from a number of angles and pictures. It was a clear and defined difference.) The tour guide then went on to say that many resorts in the area located on a point further down the mountains, are already going out of business because they are seeing as much snow throughout the year. This is not the first that I have seen something in the press or on television about snow disappearing in resorts or in mountainous regions. Watch a little Discovery Channel and you will see countless upon countless series about Alaska and it’s disappearing snowy caps.This is a world wide catasrophe. Hmmm.. did you catch that? I said the word catastrophe. We need the snow and ice to keep our planet balanced, and we need our wealthy to stay happy and entertained! Come on, you don’t want to see miserable rich people. They need to do something and go somewhere with all that money. It wouldn’t be fun for them to brag that they go to Disney World like the rest of us. Imagine Buffy, Tyler, and Chase waiting online for Magic Mountain, miserable from heat, crowds, exhaustion, and the white noise caused by all the slobbering, loud poor people jumping around in Donald Duck costumes, with no end in sight to line, even with their VIP Express Line pass? Hahaha… OK, OK… Can’t I have my fun? Anyway…
Denying global warming just sounds insane. It’s now where we can see it. Please, wake up!
Those are my thoughts for the day but on a lighter happier note, I now have more cowbell.
